Meetings are generally the second Thursday of every month through the winter at 7 PM in the Wells Emergency Squad building located behind the United Methodist Church on the corner of Buttermilk Hill Road and State Rt 30. General Meetings are open to all current and potential future club members. Please join us. Meetings may be a combination of in-person and Zoom. Check our Facebook Page for details.

Many of our snowmobile trails are deep woods trails in the Adirondack Forest Preserve. Although they may not receive heavy traffic, they require lots of maintanance. Some are far from our base of operations, and we are restricted by DEC and APA regulations as to the level of maintenance/improvement and the type of equipment that can be used.

We really need your help with trail maintenance. Please volunteer. No experience necessary. We would like you to join our club but you do not need to be a club member to help. All assistance is appreciated!

Join or renew your membership on-line or in person at a club meeting.

Check out our Facebook page for the most up to date club information.

NYSSA Snowmobile Webmap - Trail Status

Special Trail Information:

Bridge is out on C4 at Cotter Brook 2.4 miles north of HM703 (N 43° 29.309' W 74° 10.914'). This is on state Forest Preserve land in the Wilcox Lake Wild Forest. Bridge construction is contingent on approval by and assistance of the The Adirondack Park Agency and Department of Environmental Conservation.*

Wilcox Lake Wild Forest: Due to APA/DEC restrictions on trail improvement and maintenance, Trails C4 ("Girard Sugarbush", "Cotter Brook") and S43 ("Pine Orchard", "Pumpkin Hollow", "Coulombe Creek", "Willis-Wilcox") in the Wilcox Lake Wild Forest remain closer to traditional Adirondack backcountry snowmobile trails. Many sections are really trails through the woods, not wide improved trails on seasonal or logging roads. Conditions may be less than ideal if there has not been a lot of snow and cold. Trails are groomed when there is enough snow with a snowmobile and drag only.

*There is no approved Unit Management Plan (UMP) for the Wilcox Lake Wild Forest. All work other than routine maintenance is on hold pending approval of the UMP.

The APA's Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan and DEC's Snowmobile Management Guidance place strict limits in general on snowmobile trail siting, construction, and maintenance. Without an approved unit management plan in place, trail improvement work is further limited.

We encourage you to submit commments to the DEC in support of keeping and improving snowmobile trails in the Wilcox Lake Wild Forest.
